Villefranche walk - the most popular walk on the French Riviera?

Autumn is a great time for coastal walks. Vacationers have gone home, the traffic is back to normal and the weather is still nice and warm. Villefranche sur Mer is certainly one of the most visited towns on the French Riviera. Situated a few km east of Nice, it is also an important stopover for cruise ships.

This video clip shows a walk from Villefranche sur Mer to St Jean Cap Ferrat along the coastal pathway. It should be emphasized that this part of the route is easy with negligible vertical ascent. The department of Alpes Maritimes has published free booklets where many but not all of these walks are described in French. On this particular walk, be sure to locate the small street of Chemin des Moulins at the busy intersection of Pont St-Jean. Those wishing to take longer walks can start from Nice. There are more vertical ascents and descents around Cap de Nice but the views are extraordinary. There’s also the option to walk around the whole peninsula of Cap Ferrat.
